INSTRUCTIONS
For Year 3 to Year 6 School Students.
Closing date for Entries is Friday 10th May 2024
We are unable to extend the closing date for entries
The competition, which is free to all entrants, is proudly sponsored by the Forestville sub-Branch of the Returned & Services League of Australia and is conducted in conjunction with School Principals and Teachers. It has been designed to enhance in students their sense of pride and patriotism in being an Australian through Writing and Art.
The topic for 2024 is “Going On An ‘Adventure’ – Australia in August 1914, commemorating the commencement of World War I.”
Conditions and Guidelines:
- Students can choose between written work (composition or poetry) or art works.
- Essays and compositions should not include more than one illustration, and must be written on one side only with a maximum of two A4 size sheets of paper using font 12.
- Art works must not be larger than A3 size or 30.5cm x 40.7cm canvas. We regret photographs, models and dioramas cannot be accepted.
- The entrant’s Teacher and Parent/Guardian must certify that the work submitted is largely the unaided work of the entrant. PLEASE ENSURE WE CAN READ THE REQUIRED INFORMATION.
- Entries are to be the work of one student as no joint effort can be accepted and only one entry per student per section is permitted.
- Entries become the property of the RSL and may be published in print and/or electronically.
- The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
ENTRY FORMS
- WRITTEN WORK – entry forms must be stapled to the FRONT of each entry.
- ART WORK – entry forms must be attached (preferably glued) to the BACK of each entry.
There are six sections covering school years 3 to 6:

NOTE
Certificates & Prizes will be awarded to the first three entries in each section.
All other entrants will receive a certificate of appreciation.
PRIZES:
Prize monies awarded by Forestville RSL sub-Branch to each section will be:
1st Place – $200
2nd Place – $150.00
3rd Place – $100.00
